Why These Licenses & Certifications Actually Matter

"Licensed and insured" is on every contractor's marketing — but very few water treatment companies are licensed in the way Water Guys is. Here's what each credential really verifies, why we maintain them, and how to confirm them yourself before hiring any company (including us).

Washington State General Contractor License

Our license number is WATERG*757MQ, issued by the WA Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). It confirms we carry an active $30,000 contractor surety bond and the liability insurance L&I requires, and have no open complaints or unpaid judgments. You can verify any WA contractor at lni.wa.gov by company name. An expired or suspended license means a contractor is not legally allowed to perform work — and you have no claim against the bond if something goes wrong.

Idaho State General Contractor License

Our license number is 6971275, issued by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses. A general contractor license is required for contracted work above $2,000 statewide. Verify any ID contractor at dopl.idaho.gov.

Idaho Plumbing Contractor License

Water Guys is a licensed plumbing contractor in Idaho, license #1481139, issued by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses. You can verify it at dopl.idaho.gov.

Water Quality Association (WQA) Membership

The WQA is the international not-for-profit trade association for the water treatment industry. Member companies receive ongoing technical updates on contaminants, treatment technologies and industry best practices, and have access to WQA's Modular Education Program for installer training. Membership signals an active commitment to staying current with the industry — separate from a contractor license, which only verifies legal eligibility to do business.

$1,000,000 / $2,000,000 Liability Insurance

Our general liability policy covers $1,000,000 per occurrence with a $2,000,000 aggregate. The reason it matters: a water treatment system is plumbed into your home's main water line. A failed installation can cause significant water damage, and we want our customers fully protected if the worst happens. Ask any contractor to provide a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) before they touch your home — we can email yours within minutes.
