Water Right was founded in 1963 by Glenn Gruett - not as a general water softener company, but specifically to solve problem water. Their founding product was a proprietary automatic control valve designed for problem well water, and that DNA runs through everything they make today.

Chlorine Generator Technology

Standard resin-based softeners degrade when exposed to chlorine and struggle with iron and manganese. Solving "Problem Water" Across Eastern WA & North Idaho
Roughly 1 in 7 households in our service area drink from a private well. Wells are not regulated by the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Act, so the homeowner is the entire treatment plant. Water Right has built well-water specialty equipment for 35+ years, and we've installed their systems on hundreds of PNW wells. The most common conditions we see and treat:
Iron, Manganese & Sulfur
Orange staining in toilet tanks, brown laundry, and that "rotten egg" hot-water smell are the classic signs. Iron above 0.3 mg/L stains, manganese above 0.05 mg/L turns water black, and hydrogen sulfide produces the sulfur smell. Our standard fix is the Water Right Iron Curtain system, which uses an air-injection oxidation process — no chemicals, no salt — to drop these out of solution. Filter media is a 10-year service interval; nothing to refill weekly.
Bacteria & Coliform
Atmospheric river floods, septic failures, and aging well caps all introduce bacteria into private wells. The WA Department of Health recommends shock-chlorination plus continuous treatment after a positive coliform test. The Water Right Sanitizer Plus combines a peroxide injection system with a high-flow UV chamber — peroxide oxidizes contaminants ahead of UV, which improves UV's kill rate by 30–50% versus UV alone.
Hardness, Tannins & Low pH
The Water Right Impression Plus series handles softening and tannin removal in a single tank — useful in heavily forested areas where dissolved organics turn well water tea-colored. For low-pH wells (common in volcanic-soil areas of north Idaho and northeastern WA), we add a calcite remineralizer to bring pH back up to 7.0–7.5 and stop pinhole leaks in copper plumbing.
